Of great relevance is research in field of fire modelling with computational fluid dynamics and analysis of social physics, aimed to study emergency evacuation of people by the means of specific software, area and evacuation modelling.

Since 2016, IDF has started an internationalization process by affirming its presence in major European markets: Great Britain, France and Switzerland. The UK branch has been established in 2019 in London.
